This week’s Flickr Finder comes to us from the awesomely named Gandalf Bartholomäus, who, though he is based in Germany, says his interests lie in Japanese style. We agree that some of the most thought-provoking stylemakers are emerging from that corner of the world, and think the cool, dreamy quality of Gandalf’s photos mix well with the eclectic elements of Japanese dress. Check out his photostream for more shots. More photo after the jump.

Ghost Town.

_mg_7690

During the holidays, our city feels a bit empty. Scouting the town for an Aleatory-worthy shot proves to be challenging, but thankfully, Tom and I cross paths. Tom’s take on old world, yet world class attire made him standout in a crowd of many. Looks like these often find themselves on the wrong side of the spectrum between outfit and costume, and thankfully Tom appears to know when to draw the line. His look stands out rather than begs for attention, and brings to mind a saloon owner in ol’ west San Francisco. One more pic after the jump.

Can’t Buy Me Love.

Joel’s outfit is initially overlooked by our camera, but upon further inspection we see how stylishly composed he really is: the single-breasted blazer, knotted plaid scarf, mussed-up hair, and casually unlaced lace-up. Plus, does anyone else think he has a remarkable resemblance to Patrick Dempsey circa the ’80s staple Can’t Buy Me Love?

Shelley.

Let’s be honest, every component of Shelley’s outfit is a standout piece. The sleek leather mini skirt, dazzling metal-fringed shoulder bag, patchwork boots, ornate pendant necklace—the elements come together in an alluring, rocker-meets-glamour get-up that is totally singular in style.

Happy Shooting.

We come across Sakura shooting photos of her daughter, Brown, playing gleefully in the park. She’s using an old-school Nikon camera that hangs from her neck on a bright yellow band. Initially drawn to the red ribbons braided in her hair and intricacies of the patchwork bag she carries, we realize it’s her natural, hip mom vibe that seals the deal. With Sakura’s vivid red nail polish and oh-so-chic beaded moccasins, we suspect Brown is going to turn out just fine.
